Canada Foreign Minister Stephane Dion Visits Sri Lanka Today

The Foreign Minister of Canada Stephane Dion will arrive in Sri Lanka today on an official visit.
The Ministry of Foreign affairs said a visit of a Foreign Minister of Canada takes place after 13 years. Minister Mangala Samaraweera is expected to hold bilateral discussions with his Canadian counterpart tomorrow.
Minister Dion will call on President Maithripala Sirisena, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and Leader of the Opposition R Sampanthan. He will also meet the Minister of National Co-existence, Dialogue and Official Languages, Mano Ganesan in connection with support extended by Canada for the National Languages Equality Advancement Project.
Foreign Minister Dion will also visit Jaffna, where he will meet the Governor of the Northern Province Reginald Cooray, Chief Minister CV Wigneswaran and members of civil societies.
The Minister will also visit Canadian funded projects while the Ministry said the Minister Dion’s visit is expected to infuse new momentum to relations between the two countries.
