Sri Lanka Tourist Arrivals Surge 2,767% in February

The number of foreign tourist arrivals in Sri Lanka jumped 2,767.1 percent year-on-year to 96,507 in February of 2022, as soaring vaccinations around the world and softer restrictions for vaccinated travelers, and growing consumer confidence in some outbound source markets. Russia was the largest source of tourist traffic to Sri Lanka with 15.9 percent of the total traffic, followed by India (13.2%), the UK (11.0%), Germany (8.1%), and France (5.9%). Visitors from Europe became the largest source of tourists to Sri Lanka with 73.3 percent of total arrivals in January, while those of Asia Pacific accounted for 19.5 percent. source: Ceylon Tourist Board.
