Canada pledges support for Lanka’s economic stabilization program

The Canadian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka Eric Walsh states that the Canadian government will continue to support the economic stabilization program in Sri Lanka.

The High Commissioner said this in a discussion held with the State Minister of Finance Shehan Semasinghe at the Ministry of Finance.

The newly appointed Canadian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, Eric Walsh, expressed his appreciation for the reforms carried out by Sri Lanka with regard to the International Monetary Fund’s program.

Also, the Canadian government’s support for Sri Lanka’s agricultural modernization programs was also discussed at length.

The State Minister of Finance explained the reforms and the commitment of the people to stabilize the economy of the country. He further explained the programmes carried out by the Government of Sri Lanka regarding the small and medium entrepreneurs in the country, and the discussion was furthered paying more attention on getting the support of the Government of Canada in this programme.

The High Commissioner further mentioned that the Government of Canada will continue to support the implementation of development programs in Sri Lanka.
